There is a raw, fundamental truth in the phrase, “Life is suffering” and however hopeless it may seem, in the depths of our struggle, this saying seems to resonate with most people. In an emotional sense, human suffering can manifest in various ways ranging from depression, anxiety, shame, grief, and trauma to stagnation of growth, relational issues, and self-destructive behaviors. The key to a sense of wellness or contentment is to learn methods that lessen the severity of your suffering and build your resilience while also searching for ways to bring meaning to your experiences, no matter what challenges you face.
Within each of us, there is a pure, uninhibited consciousness yearning to express itself fully as the peaceful, whole, meaningful, happy you. But sometimes, our circumstances cause the waters to muddy and our minds to clutter with thoughts that are not helpful to our wellness or expressing our highest selves. But you, as an individual, have the power to reclaim your life.
Experience: I graduated from Sacramento State with my Master of Social Work with a specialization in Behavioral Health after graduating from UC Berkeley with my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. During my 6+ years working in mental health, I worked in local acute psychiatric inpatient settings where I have supported numerous adults and adolescents living with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. In addition, I served as the first Substance Use Navigator (SUN) in a local emergency department and received training in substance use disorders from CA Bridge. It was an honor to help support individuals coping with acute withdrawal and detox in these settings. Now, I’m thrilled to take the next step and utilize this experience with you at SagePoint IOP!
